GiBLI was honoured to be asked to participate in the inaugural Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub’s Cycling Technology Network Event in Silverstone, UK, February 12, 2025.
As a company committed to advancing cycling technology, in the space of real-time aerodynamics, we were proud to showcase our G10 sensors to industry leaders, professional teams, and national cycling federations. The strong interest and enthusiasm surrounding our technology reinforced the growing demand for precise and user friendly aerodynamic data.
It was apparent that the invited attendees were excited about our system as we sold all the units we traveled with and it was evident that industry leaders appreciated a well thought out system that is user friendly, provides instant results, and is easy to set-up.
Given the long journey from Canada, we made the most of our time by conducting additional wind tunnel testing. In a future report, we will share detailed data analysis, but during this session, our CEO, Mark Ernsting, implemented a unique testing protocol. No real-time data was communicated to the rider while in the tunnel. Typically, a rider sees three images of themselves (front, side, and top views) alongside key aerodynamic data, including CdA values. For the front image, an electronic outline is usually traced around the rider’s position to ensure consistency across multiple test runs. Instead, this session focused on assessing a rider’s ability to replicate their aerodynamic position after repeatedly sitting up and resetting. Nearly 50 tests were conducted over two hours to evaluate positional repeatability among all the changes that were tested.
We are pleased to confirm that the wind speed and yaw angle measurements from the tunnel align perfectly with our G10 sensor data—an exciting validation of our technology!
We extend our gratitude to Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub for their exceptional hospitality and professionalism in organizing the event and facilitating high-quality wind tunnel testing.
